Do you ever have those moments in your life where it’s as if you can literally feel the warmth of heaven surrounding you?
That’s the feeling I get whenever I have a good scripture study. And as a missionary, you get a good amount of scripture study! (Even though, trust me, it never feels like enough).
Today as I was reading the New Testament, I felt overcome by the peace and love that the Spirit always brings. I wish everyone could feel this way, I thought. Each time I learn more about Jesus Christ, I am filled with such an indescribable happiness. I want to shout His word to the entire earth! I realized that if I had the chance to give one piece of advice to the world, it would be this:
Come to know Jesus Christ. Come to know Him!
He is the Almighty Creator of the universe, and yet He is our dearest friend. (Doctrine and Covenants 84:77)
He is the magnificent Redeemer of all mankind, and yet He is our closest Brother. (1 Nephi 10:6)
He is a resurrected, glorified Being with infinite power, and yet He is the one who holds us through our tears in the late hours of the night. (Isaiah 25:4)
He is called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, yet He is the one who calls us beloved. (Isaiah 9:6)
He is the Savior of the world, and yet the intimate lover of our soul. (John 13:1)
He is ours, and we are His. (John 14:20)
Once more I beg you–come to know Him. The greatest path you will ever embark on is the path of coming to truly know Jesus Christ. There is no quest more noble, no struggle more worth it, no reward more divine. For the more we truly come to know and love our Savior, the happier we become and the stronger we become. Our outlook is brighter, our love is deeper, our smile is kinder, our heart is gentler; our friendships are more meaningful, our life is more purposeful, and our future is more wonderful. The more we know Him, the more confidence we gain, the more knowledge we receive, and the more eternal hope we have.
“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” (John 17:3)
I want the world to know that while I may not know Him perfectly, this much I do know–He lives! He loves us. He is there for each and every one of us. He has the power to save. And He will lead us safely home.
